Simple Socks

Class date/time: 9am-11am June 10, June 24, July 8

This no-stress series of three classes will introduce you to the fun of knitting socks— portable,
comfortable, great gifts! Unlike our previous sock classes, this sock project will be worked from
the top (cuff) down with a gusset flap heel. There will be only one technique or stitch that might
be new to you, the Kitchener stitch, which will be used to close the toe.
The two weeks between each class session will give you plenty of time to complete your
“homework” to be ready for the next sock section.
Prerequisites: must know how to knit, purl, decrease with SSK or K2tog, be comfortable knitting
in the round and knitting from instructions.

Materials:
Yarn- 400 yds (minimum) fingering weight yarn purchased from A Good Yarn. Suggest that that
yarn have either nylon, silk, or bamboo in addition to wool content. Yarn must be wound and
ready to use prior to class.
Needles- size 2.25mm or 2.50mm (usually US 1 or 1.5 except in Addi needles)
You may choose to use double points, 2 circulars (16-24 in long each), 9 or 10 in needles, or a
32 in circular for magic loop. (If you would like to try magic loop, easy to learn in class when we
start our project.)

Pattern- free on Ravelry for you to download, “Hermione’s Everyday Socks”
Please bring either print or digital copy to class to use.
