Description: Like the look of knitting but prefer to crochet? Tunisian crochet is the answer – It combines the best of crochet and knitting. In this three-hour workshop students will crochet a mini version of an afghan. (See sample at A Good Yarn)
Materials: Three Skeins of Berroco Comfort (worsted) in three different colors that are comparable, size K or L Tunisian crochet hook, scissors, yarn needle. Purchase pattern, “Log Cabin Afghan” by Rohn Strong on www.interweave.com for $5.50.
Pre-requisites: Students should understand the basic mechanics of Tunisian crochet.
Skills Taught: This is a beginner+ pattern that requires some level of concentration. Students will learn how to “build” up fabric by “picking up” stitches around the sides. A combination of knit and purl stitches make up the beautiful border and flattens out the naturally curly fabric made by the dense Tunisian knit stitches.
